Join Bonney’s as an experienced Leading Hand Mechanic, responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily workflow of our skilled workshop team.

You will ensure our fleet is well maintained, fit for purpose, and operating in full compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
​
This role requires strong communication skills and a patient, collaborative approach to build positive working relationships between the Workshop, Operations, Despatch, and Drivers.
​
We are actively improving our systems and processes to support a consistent and traceable way of working across the business. This role will play a key part in supporting the implementation of new systems and technology.

The Role

Lead and supervise Bonney’s workshop operations

Ensure fleet reliability, safety, and compliance

Manage people, workflow, and maintenance outcomes
Key Responsibilities

Lead and organise the workshop team and workflow
-
Schedule servicing, maintenance, and repairs
-
Supervise mechanics and contractors
-
Coordinate fleet maintenance programmes
-
Maintain workshop organisation and housekeeping standards

Provide operational and KPI reporting

Support continuous improvement initiatives

Ensure Worksafe, wellbeing, and policy compliance
Skills & Experience
-
Trade-qualified heavy diesel mechanic
-
Extensive experience in fleet or workshop leadership
-
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability
-
Proven people management and coaching skills
-
Solid understanding of NZ transport and safety requirements

Excellent communication and organisational skills
