Fatigue Management Programme

This programme establishes Bonney's overarching approach to fatigue management across all heavy vehicle operations. It sits above the specific policy documents and describes how the four pillars of fatigue management work together to protect drivers, the public, and the business.

While the Logbook & Fatigue Risk Management Policy and Logbook Compliance Policy define the rules and consequences, this programme describes the system — how Bonney's identifies, monitors, and responds to fatigue risk across the organisation.

Logbook & Fatigue Risk Management

Every driver operating a Class 4+ vehicle for Bonney's is required by law to keep an accurate logbook and manage their work time and rest time within set limits. This isn't just a compliance requirement — it's about making sure you get home safely at the end of every shift.

We use the eRoad Daily Logbook.  Everything you need — recording your work time, managing rest breaks, and understanding what happens when a violation is flagged.

The documents below are your reference point. If you're new to the team, start with the Driver Summary. If you want the full detail, the policy has it all.

This policy establishes Bonney's requirements for managing driver work time, rest breaks, logbook compliance, fatigue risk, and data integrity across all heavy vehicle operations.

The objectives are to:

  • Ensure full compliance with the Land Transport (Work Time and Logbooks) Rule 2007

  • Minimise fatigue-related risk to drivers and the public

  • Maintain accurate, verifiable records — with eRoad as the single source of truth

  • Detect and address data integrity issues using CarTrack GPS cross-referencing

  • Apply a consistent, fair, and defensible decision-making framework

  • Protect Bonney's Transport Service Licence (TSL) and operating reputation

  • Ensure eRoad work time data feeding into iPayroll is accurate — protecting driver pay entitlements and company payroll integrity

This policy establishes mandatory standards for logbook compliance across all Class 4+ heavy vehicle operations.

It exists to:

  • Protect driver health, safety, and wellbeing through adherence to work time rules

  • Ensure full compliance with the Land Transport (Work Time and Logbooks) Rule 2007

  • Protect the company's Transport Service Licence (TSL) and operating reputation

  • Provide a clear, consistent framework for monitoring, reporting, and breach management

  • Leverage eRoad telematics data to automate compliance monitoring

What's changing?

  • Bonney's has always audited logbooks — that's a legal requirement.

  • We're now doing it digitally, using the eRoad data that already exists. Every driver's violations are reviewed every month. Your logbook is monitored daily by Transport Administration.

  • This is not new surveillance. It is a better way of doing something we have always been required to do.
